Renewal is Happening

In February 2024, with the installation of the Rt. Rev. Matthew Heyd as its 17th Bishop, the Episcopal Diocese of New York entered a season of renewal. In the months that followed, clergy and lay people participated in a mission review process to help shape the Diocese’s programs and priorities for the years ahead.

As part of this mission review process, the Diocese commissioned us to create a 10-part documentary series focused on stories of renewal that were happening now in churches and communities from Staten Island to Ulster County. We’ve delivered seven episodes to date.

We took as our starting point for the series a phrase from Bishop Heyd’s writings – the Holy Spirit moves at ground level.

THE BIG HUGE COUNT!

During the COVID lockdown, we created several PSA campaigns in collaboration with community-based organizations across the city for NYC Census 2020.

We made THE BIG HUGE COUNT! remotely with Ifetayo Cultural Arts Academy. We approached Ifetayo with the idea, they shot the footage, and we did the editing and post-production. The result was a 5-episode social media campaign, three of which are below.

Midway through the campaign, THIRTEEN asked for a BIG HUGE COUNT! PSA for their Let’s Learn NYC! program and we were happy to oblige. You can see that broadcast PSA here.

The Census as Virtuous Merit

Also for NYC Census 2020, we partnered with New York Disaster Interfaith Services to create this 4-part outreach campaign to different Buddhist communities, encouraging them to respond to the 2020 Census. Lockdown restrictions had eased by this point and we were able to shoot on location.
