BRIC CELEBRATE BROOKLYN! FESTIVAL – PETER SHAPIRO

Launched in 1979 and based at the Prospect Park Bandshell, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival is one of New York City's longest running, free, outdoor performing arts festivals.

Each concert season begins with an Opening Night Gala. In 2016, the Gala's guest of honor was independent concert promoter Peter Shapiro, owner of Brooklyn Bowl and the Capitol Theatre.

I made the Gala video that was shown at the pre-show dinner party. I shot and  interviewed Pete's friends and colleagues (except Robert Plant...his people shot his clip in Wales and sent it to us). I built the program without a script and worked with Brad Tucker, Pete's Project Manager, to pull photos and videos from Pete's personal archive. This video was a complete surprise to Pete, too. We worked surreptitiously over two months.

After the Gala, several press outlets (1, 2, and 3) shared the story of the evening and included my video. Pete's organization also shared the video through their various social media channels.
